Happy Launch Day!

If you're reading this right now, it means I've survived through the crazy madness of the past few weeks and I'm now on the other side! The side where "Chasing June" is out in the world for everyone to enjoy and I'm sitting at my computer looking like Harry Potter at the end of ANY given Harry Potter movie; slightly stunned and covered in random goop and wounds from the rocky battlefield of launch day.

With that lovely mental image in your mind...

I'm excited to see what everyone thinks of "Chasing June". Her journey definitely led her far away from where I thought it was going. At the risk of sounding crazy, characters have a way of doing that. I kept telling her to do one thing and she'd do another! Headstrong girl.

Anyway, go have fun at the "Chasing June" launch party, because it should be epic! And let me know what you think of the book!

Until next time!

Chasing Events!

As you may know... or more likey DON'T know, because I'm an awful author who's been terrible about keeping everyone up to date with everything going on. Chasing June comes out December 14th! You know what that means? EVENTS!

That's right, we're doing this thing the right way!

We've got the Chasing June blog tour, which runs from December 1st-7th. During the course of that blog tour we'll have a Goodreads giveaway you can enter to win a signed paperback of none other than Chasing June itself! It'll be a blast! We'll have all sorts of awesome authors and book bloggers participating, so make sure you check it out.

Also, I'm going to do a Facebook launch party on December 14th! The last one for Sugar Coated was 4 hours and kind of constant chaos, so for this one, it'll only be two hours, but we'll have lots of prizes (e-books, generously donated by some amazing authors! Plus some signed bookmarks), TONS of games (how else will you win the prizes?), and way too much fun. The last Facebook launch party was a blast and I'm sure this one will be just as fun... if not better since I now know what I'm doing and DEFINITELY didn't before.

So there you have it!

I can't wait to see you all (virtually) at the blog tour and launch party!

Let's do this thing!

Until next time,

Chasing June is on the way! December 14th!

It's getting so close guys! And I've completely neglected this release! Bad author!

That's a lot of exclamation points. We're going to avoid using those for the rest of this post.

So Chasing June is coming out! (Please disregard that exclamation point.)

December 14th people. That's the day you finally get to see what happens next with June. And I promise it's a little crazy and unexpected and might make you mad. But it might also make you really happy. Me? It makes me nostalgic :) And confused. All at once.

So coming up December 1st through the 7th we'll have the Chasing June blog tour, which I'll post more about soon! You know... once it's actually set up (I swear I'm in the process! I know. I've been a terrible author lately!)

Annnnnd I was thinking of doing another Facebook launch party since the one for Sugar Coated was so flippin awesome. Seriously. It was pure madness and chaos but I had so much fun and I think everyone else did too! So what do you think? Is another Facebook launch party in order?

Anyway, December 14th is the day!

I can't wait!

I also abandon my no-exclamation-point rule halfway through that post. Can you tell?

Time to cast this nonexistent movie

I know some people hate when authors post their ideal book cast because it’s different than who they pictured….

But too bad :)

I happen to LOVE when people post who they think should play a certain role! And I’m a very visual person (I blame the film buff in me) so I almost always have someone in mind when I’m writing a book.

That being said, I wanted to post the people I had in mind when writing “Sugar Coated” because… well… why not?

Of course none of these actors look EXACTLY like my characters… except maybe Jonah… he’s pretty spot on. And Brynn. Okay fine. Most of them do. But still, it’s fun.

 Let's start with Brynn

It's not really a secret that I flippin LOVE Emily Browning. So of course I modeled my main character after her.

And then there's Ty
When I was looking for inspiration for Ty, I actually just Googled "Actors with blonde hair and brown eyes". It's a surprisingly difficult combination to find! But then I came across Xavier Samuel and he looked SO much like Ty. So done. There he is!

Of course, if we're going to talk about Ty, we have to talk about Jonah

This one was another no-brainer. Logan Lerman is Jonah. That's all there is to it :)

Amber and Bennett were easy, because in fact I just modeled them after my RL friends Amber Stuart and Whitney Bennett. Easy Peasy!

And then we have Eris.

She was a little more difficult to cast. Originally, I had a picture in my mind of what Eris looked like and it was a cross between this made up character and a drawing someone had done of GLaDOS from the game Portal. So I had to think of someone who could embody that creepy, powerful, beautiful person. And I instantly thought of Charlize Theron... with a white blonde asymmetrical bob of course :)

So there you have it. My ideal book cast for "Sugar Coated"!

Who did you guys picture while reading it? Are any of these people close to what you saw?

Until next time,

California... I am in you... almost

It's finally happening California friends! I'm doing a book signing in your great state of beaches and shifty shops in Venice where I can get a super cute skirt for $10!

As some of you know I grew up in California, so I'm quite excited to be doing a book signing where all my childhood friends just happen to live :)

And the great part is, this book signing is actually part of the California Utah Women's Conference at the Disneyland Hotel! So you can mosey on through the convention (which is free to get into!), see some really cute booths, talk to me because I'll have bookmarks and candy and thrilling conversation, then head over to Disneyland and be happy in the happiest place on earth!

I'd call that a win win.

Oh and I'll have paperbacks of ALL of my books :)

But really, I'm excited to finally be doing a book signing in CA, and it's going to be a blast!

Yep, you read that right, a BLAST!

So come see me!

The convention is on October 19, 2013 from 8:00AM to Noon at The Disneyland Hotel!

Fight For You Blog Tour!

I feel so special to be able to take part in Misty's blog tour! This girl is so sweet and such an awesome author! So come check out her latest book and prepare to be amazed!

Keturah fought her way into the army, but now she's in Judea building fortifications, and the only thing she's fought so far is boredom. The work is hard, and the other soldiers don't think she can pull her weight. Her brothers are becoming strangers, and Zeke's jealousy is getting worse - because Keturah is falling in love with the wrong warrior.

But she's not about to let cruel pranks and hurt feelings keep her from doing what she knows to be right. She completes every order with faithfulness - a hasty retreat from the Lamanite army, a spy mission into the enemy stronghold, a midnight assassination. From burying the dead to whiling away hours on guard duty, Keturah will do whatever it takes to protect her religion, her freedom, her peace, and her family.

But in a camp of two thousand boys, the most important thing she has to protect is her heart.

Fight For You is the second novel in Misty Moncur's Stripling Warrior series. Fall in love with these romantic novels set against a vivid Book of Mormon backdrop.

Misty Moncur wanted to be Indiana Jones when she grew up. Instead, she became an author and has her adventures at home. In her jammies. With her imagination. And pens that she keeps running dry.

Misty lives in a marsh near a very salty lake in Utah with her husband and children, where they cuddle up in the evenings and read their Kindles. Well, she does anyway.

Pick a side, any side.

It's that time guys.

You knew it would happen eventually.

I want to know what team you're on.

I'm sure a lot of you haven't finished reading "Sugar Coated" yet... I mean, fine, it's only been out a week... still, for those of you who have read it, I want to know if you're Team Ty or Team Jonah.

Romance isn't exactly a central focus in "Sugar Coated" like pretty much every other book I write, but I do love me a good love triangle, so I couldn't resist putting one in there. And that's not a spoiler... you can figure that out from reading the back of the book... so stop looking at me with those spoiler-y eyes!

That being said, no spoilers in your answer! I just want to know who you'd pick... you know... if you had to. Like if some crazy author was pestering you about who you like more and she wrote a blog post forcing you to decide.

The choice is yours :)

Until next time,

Upcoming events!

Hello my lovely friends!

Basically, release day for "Sugar Coated" was chaotic, crazy, amazing, madness and I loved every second of it!

Yes, even the second where my internet went out during the launch party and I was supposed to be posting a game.

Okay, maybe I didn't like that second very much in the moment... I might have yelled at my modem and threatened to throw it out the window... but looking back on it now it's kind of funny. So that's what matters, right?

I have to give a giant, enormous (aka ginormous) thank you to everyone who helped me! EVERYONE! Thank YOU for buying the book and supporting me, thank you to my publisher who helped make launch day so amazing, thank you to my hosts who helped with the launch party and made it such a blast... just thank you to everyone :)

Sugar Coated ended up reaching #27 in ranking on Amazon in its category! How epic is that? Never in a million years did I think that would happen! I'm so amazingly happy, so thank you THANK YOU for making that happen!

Annnnnd should you feel inclined to continue spreading the word about Sugar Coated, here's a handy little graphic for you to use.

So, now that the book is out, it's time for events!!!

First up, I've got a book signing at Barnes and Noble in West Jordan on September 28th from 5:00-8:00PM. So if you're looking to get a paperback of Sugar Coated, that's the place to do it! We'll have bookmarks, and candy, and FUN! So come see me! Here's the address:

Jordan Landing Barnes and Noble
7157 Plaza Center Drive
West Jordan, UT 84084

Next, I'll be attending the California Utah Women's Conference this year at the Disneyland Hotel! I'll have a booth with all of my books in paperback! Finally, a book signing for my California friends! So come see me! I can't wait to chat and catch up with everyone! Plus I'm going to try to make my books all cutesy and ribbony... since the women there might throw me out if I don't put ribbons on everything I'm selling.  It's going to be a ton of fun! Plus there will be a bunch of fun booths to check out, and you'll be right by Disneyland... so I don't really see how it can be much better :)

Here's the CUW website in case you want to learn a bit more about the conference!

Hope to see you guys at some of these fun events! I'll keep you posted as more come up!

Until next time,
